Throughout 2021 - 2023 I have had the honour of working with Louise Skacej and Dean Colls on now-released sculptural commissions as a studio hand/assistant.
I was involved in Lu's project Trove, a 14 piece public art installation series that recognises and celebrates the many faceted nature of the community, diversity and history of Melbourne’s inner city suburbs. As a collection of everyday and sometimes overlooked objects, placed informally within the built environment, they each point to personal, historical or cultural stories presented in a way that produces intimate moments of discovery. I was involved in the process of making molds for the pieces, as well as trialing and trouble-shooting making the wax models which would eventually be sent to be casted in bronze.
Along with this work I did mapping work for Dean, where I graphed out the geometric panels for one of the hands of Skater; A 5.6 meter bronze, remembering the halcyon days of the iconic Saint Moritz Ice Palais in St Kilda, installed on the Esplanade in St Kilda.
The beginning of 2023 I had the honour to also work on a portrait of Hans Grimus and his dog Captain, a now public sculpture on Mount Buller.
